Hey all!!!! I recently decided to set up a 120 gal marine aquarium with a 50 gal sump. I used natural salt water, sand which I got from the beach (i'm not sure about the size but they're big enough not to go trough the UGF) and a couple of store bought live rocks.
I have filter media in the sump, coarse, medium and fine sand and charcoal.
A few days after I set up the tank I added a 2" trigger fish, a 3" to 4" rock fish (don't know if it's called that - it just looks like a rock and blends in with the live rocks and has a big mouth), a 2" puffer fish, 3 hermits, a snail and 2 crabs (probably sand crabs). I caught all of them in the Beach near where I live wich is part of the South China and Sulu sea.
I also added some wild caught corals and polyps also from the same beach.
A month after placing the fishes, corals and polyps in my aquarium, my tanks Amonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, PH, Salinity and Temperature have remained constant.
Ammonia : 0 mg/l
Nitrite : 0 mg/l
Nitrate : 10 mg/l
PH : 7.8
Salinity : 1.025
Temp : 28-29oC or 82.4 - 84.2oF
I use Aquarium Pharmaceuticals Test Kits.
My concern is that when I added 2 clown fishes, a bubble tiped anemone and a long tiped anemone (all store bought), the clown fishes and bubble tiped anemone died over night.
The only new inhabitants left surviving is the long tiped anemone.
Any ideas why?
Thanks in advance!
BDW, I removed the puffer, trigger, rock fish and hermit from the tank before adding the new fishes coz i was told that they were hostile to inverts, anemones and corals.
