Trouble Shooting Lighting Setup

Finally got my dimmable T5's wired via EVG-AP-2F Dimmable interface. Also installed my two ProfiLuxSimu-L flash Sticks.

Here is what is going on now.

T5's are on L1/L2 plugged directly into profilux. L2 will dim ballast 2 just as planned. L1 will not dim ballast 1 not as planned. Now if I switch ballast 1 and 2 control wired on the EVG, ballast 1 will dim with L1 but it also shuts off ballast 2 at 0%. So doing weird stuff but that was only to satisfy me that ballast 1 did indeed dim.

Flash Sticks are on L3/L4 plugged into YL2. L3 is controlling Red on one stick and blue/ white on the other. L4 is doing the direct opposite.

I'm not getting from the manual how set the differences in L3 and L4, thinking that might have something to do with it. Changing Lightning mode, for instance, I don't see how to set Flash 1 and 2 separately. Only give a single option.

Thanks...

Please try and post picture of your wiring!

To program your lightstick you must unplug everything in the L ports and only plus one simutick and then program it to react to Flash1 and then do the other on flash2, you should be set.

Programming stick done. Thank you. Guess it didn't sink in first time reading "only the light to be programmed".
Of coarse, my card reader just died. I will keep trying to get pictures up.
I have followed each wire several times to make sure they go where they want to.

Any thoughts on why L3 controls red on one blue/white on the other?

Thanks again.

Ya, just plug the either one of them, only one of them, a bit like the flash programmation, but instead, do swap channel.

And done.....Thank you.

Now onto getting you some type of photo.

While I'm at it:
Will setting the "burn in" for 100 hours over ride the the dimming point settings? Assuming it just reads off the operation hours and won't let it dim until 100 hours are met. Then I won't have to change my settings....

After I get ballast 1 dimming, I will replace with my new bulbs which need to be "burned in". So I am assuming you are saying to will override setting.....

Is it possibly the min-max settings for the sylvania ballasts. Have them both at default 1 to 10 v. Ballast 2 is dimming with the setting.

Let me know if these help at all:

Can you do a screen capture of your setting?
Your L port setting and Illumination setting aswell!
Your wiring look fine from what I can see.
BTW Neat job!

Illumination 2 is exactly the same. Burn is set to 100 hours.

On a side note: See that I have my Tunze set to 3 - 8? Is that correct? Saw on here that what was suggested for the 6101....

No further success, still no dim from ballast 1 (illumination 1). Stopped playing to see your input, rather than change what you see from my picture posts and complicate the problem.

do you have a voltmeter?

if yes - measure the control voltage (1-10V) directly on the ballast at different percentages - should be approx:
1% ... 1V
50% ... 5.5V
100% ... 10V

do the relays switch when switching from 0%?

if yes: is the line voltage switched on/off on the ballasts?

Matthias,
Thanks for jumping in.

I will check voltage tonight....

To sum up:

-Relays do switch on/ off at the 1% level.

-Ballast 2 (illumination 2) is working properly.

-Please check pics, because I pretty sure everything is wired right. (Would love to find my mistake though)

-I did switch the control lines from ballast 2 to ballast 1 (left the line voltage the same, because figured powered it powered) to test if the dimming problem was with the actual ballast.

What happened is, ballast 1 now dimmed and switched off at 1% but it also switch off 2. (Not sure what that means altogether, but did show me ballast 1 can dim).

The above test makes me feel like there is something a miss somewhere in my wiring, but not seeing it..........

Thanks again.

To add.......

I assume by "line voltage" you are talking about power line coming from EVG, if so can you again check pics.....

Could it possibly be switched Red wires and switched blue wires for each bulb? Thought if they were switch it wouldn't even come on....

line voltage = 110V from the PCB (EVG-AP) to the ballasts, is switched according to the percentage > 0%

did you connect the EVG-AP to a standard wall outlet with permanent power or to our powerbar?

It is plugged into a surge protected stand alone outlet with permanent power.

Will hopefully have voltage tests to you today. Meter needed a battery.

I did recheck wiring from EVG to ballasts last night according to EVG manual and represented in photos above and everything seems in order.

Both ballasts power up to 100% and turn off at 1%, just ballast 1 (illumination 1) will not dim down. Still 100% light at 2% (just my view of brightness of bulb, as I have not test the voltage at 2%).

Thanks,
