trouble tuning wavebox

I finally got my wavebox yesterday but was having trouble tuning it - I did not have a ton of time to play with it so maybe I was being too impatient - with a 6 foot 225 gal tank, am I going to be in the upper 50% of the range of the frequency dial? (just trying to narrow down the range I have to fiddle with) - also could the box being too low make a big difference? I have the water level line on the box about four mm below the water level - thanks -can't wait to get it working tonight!

The top of my waveboxes are just above the water line, so they can get some air. I think that may be your problem.

once you find the right setting it wont make that much differance, the hight should be just above water level but once its tuned to your tank lowering it will only make a smaller wave, mine took me a few hours to get right but if i lower it to nearly the bottom of the tank and turn up the power i get the same wave as at the top with power turned down mines on a 4ft tank

cool - thanks you guys - maybe I'll just have to tinker with it some more (patience has never been my strong suit!) - I'd love to hear more input if others out there have it

I have a 6' 180 and my dial is at the 9 or 10 pm positiion. *Very* small changes on the dial have alot of effect. Dial very slowly. I was start with the dial completely on the left and dial clockwise. I would also see the "power" level on the silver box to only about 50% until you find the correct resonance.

OK - I was able to find a resonance frequency but it was very fast (I would much prefer something slower but can not seem to find one) - I ended between the 11 and 12 o'clock positions (my dial turns from about 10 to 7 o'clock positions clockwise) - do you guys know if there may be more than one resonance? it works well but I am a little disappointed as the wave action is so fast - most tanks of my length that I have seen with the wavebox (six feet) have had a much slower wave resonance - last night I went through the whole dial extremely slowly (over a few hours) - is there something in my tank that may be affecting this or some way I can set it up to get a slower resonance? - maybe move the position of the box? (I now have it in the front right corner with unobstructed outflow across the whole front of the tank)

you know when its tuned right the wave really starts trying to leave your tank it made my wife feel sea sick [no joke].
a block i spoke to when i was haveing trouble setting mine told me to lower the box reduce the power but only after its tuned right this seems to give a much gentler motion if its right a slight swell is seen in the middle of the tank and shorter waves at each end i kept playing antill i got it glad i did i was going to sell it

From my understanding, the only thing that affects the resonance is the length of the aquarium. Are you running it 24/7 or using the light sensor on it? If you turn it off at night you are more likely to get calcium deposits which will require more frequent cleaning. Roger's FAQ on Stream cleaning at the top of the Tunze forum covers this.
