trouble with mounting hardware

just got my 6100 with extension bracket.
the sliding piece with hinge does not seem to hold when placed on the perforated rail..is there anything else you need to attach the sliding piece onto the rail? based on the instructions it seems as though the slide should snap right in place on the rail....

It should just slide and the locking tab on the back should have a nipple that interlocks in the holes on the rail. You may have to gently bend the tab so it contacts the holes.

the sliding piece i have must be defective because when you place it on the rail, it doesnot lock and just slides right off.. the nipple itself may be undersized for the holes on the rail.
has anyone encounteredthis problem.

Try just bending the tab the nipple is on back, it should work. It is injection molded so it is not really feasible for it to be undersized. Sometimes they get bent slightly though.

roger,
i am doing exactly what you're saying. afterall its not that complicated to place the sliding piece in place onto the mounting rail. the nipple on the sliding piece slips right into the hole on the rail but does not stay in, which indicates to me that either the nipple or hole is not sized correctly.
a friend of mine who also has a tunze 6100 with extension mount says something is wrong with mine.
as a temporary fix, i used a plastic tie wrap to hold the sliding piece fixed onto the rail.
let me know what i can do about this piece. i honestly think its defective.

From what I can see in the picture, if you take the clip off and bend the tab back to where it is cocked back it should work. If that doesn't fix it let me know but it looks right. It should lock in firmly.

when u bend the tab, the nipple goes into the hole but does not hold. it slips out with ease which is not the case with what ive seen w/ myfriends bracket.

Please try taking it off and bending it back so it's natural position is bent back about 15 degrees.

roger,
did it...doesnt work. again, thenipple slips in place into the any given hole on the bracket yet it does not hold.
if the sliding piece wasnt bent and sitting in one of the holes, how else do you think the tie wrap is holding the sliding piece in place.
the problem is not getting the nipple into one of the holes but more trying to fit snuggly w/out slipping out.
any other suggestions?

Is the nipple too small or too big? Do you see any thin plastic around the edges, is it sloped at the bottom? I am not trying to be difficult but it is a problem I have never seen before so I am puzzled. The few times I have seen this bending the tab fixed it. In your pictures the nipple is clearly not engaged in the hole, the tab is bowed out and not flush against the plastic rail.

DOH- Stop press- you have it on backwards. It should slide up the other side of the rail. The side with the edges.
