i bought a good size flower pot coral about a month ago. and 2 weeks ago i noticed that the fingers on the tips of the arms were not extending out. and today i have noticed some tissue recession on the side of it. water seems to be fine. any suggestions?

how long was it in the lfs? i recommend emergency actions. feed it a mixture of oyster eggs, phytoplankton, zooplankton, and/or coral frenzy. its starved from what i am reading.

... try coral frenzy. it could be water flow... you really did not give enough information on placement or flow or lighting. mine was doing ok only on DT's. when i introduced coral frenzy into the diet, i saw a major change in the coral.

That is a good article, I second that everyone should read it. Missing tissue, especiall on the outer edge can be due to ampipods munching away. I have had that problem when two took up residency in the center of mine.
