Trouble with my Zoos

In Memoriam
I bought a rock of zoo's a few days ago with hundreds of them on it. They haven't been opening fully, and today it appears that about 1/4 of them have just disappeared off the rock in one location.

The water quality is fine, no cycle is going on and my specific gravity is 1.026.

I have power compact lighting. Tank is 75 gallons.

What could be wrong and did the missing part die or has it moved somewhere else?

And on my other set of zoos, they have white spots. What are these?

You might get the help you are looking for if you post this in the Zoanthids forum here on RC. It does take several days maybe even a week for some of mine to open, however I have no idea why they are disappearing. Good Luck

watch your water flow on them. its funny i bought the exact same zoas last week. i had some flow going through them but they werent fully opening until i put them in an area that get low to no flow and theyre beautiful

I was planning on getting some of these later on but it looks like I have one sprouting up on its own from my new live rock. So far it is pretty much white/clear with light green edges.

I hope you find out what is happening to yours and I'll be watching this to learn for mine in the future.

I was having trouble with my Zoo colonies, so I did the dip with Lugol's as detailed in the Zoanthid forum. It worked great. Might not be the same problem, but at this stage it can't hurt to try.

I have the exact same zooanthids, or just very similar. they glow REALLY bright under all actinic light. they don't like alot of flow but do like thier cyclopeeze and light.

zoas dont mind flow, many SPS tanks with high flow boast zoanthids. You might even need more flow on them.

Dont move them...and give them time

check out the stickied thread in the zoanthid forum for the white spot issue.
