Troubles with my latest order...

I have ordered many, many times from Divers Den. I have lost a couple fish, and most times I never have a problem with shipping. This time, things just didn't turn out well. I had ordered 2 leathers, a marine beta, and some blue legged crabs.

When at first last night I never received the email saying the order shipped, I was a bit worried, and being it was after 11pm had to wait till morning to call. None the less, the email came in at 6:15am, and all was well, so I thought.

I first looked at the FedEx tracking info around 11am and thought something was wrong, as it didn't say "Out for Delivery". I was hopping the system was a bit slow, but when I looked at noon, and seen the same info, I called FedEx and was shocked to find out that the shipping label had been ripped off and that the package was just sitting there.

I was told that the package wouldn't arrive now till tomorrow, and I then called the Dr's to see if they can help. So here I sit, waiting...

what a bummer! Can't a FedEx worker look at the box and see LIVE FISH! Come on! Also, can't they take the TRACKING NUMBER, that I assume was still readable and look up where it was from and where it was going? Or at least call the place it shipped from??

Ok, rant to FedEx is over :(

Here WERE the poor animals, as I have a feeling they wouldn't make it, but we will see.

Fish and corals can make it more than a day in the bags (sometimes, with bad shippers) they have to go longer than that on their way to the US. I wouldn't count them out quite yet. Bettas can be particularly strong fish, if that makes you feel any better.

I hope they make it. I did find out that FedEx is suppose to make a faster trip to me tomorrow. I normal don't see them to around 4pm, but was told they will make a special trip down for a faster delivery. That at least will help much :)

I know them bettas can be pretty hardy. I had one over 15 years ago in my very first slat water tank. I know the crabs will be fine. The leathers I will have to wait and see. I know some can be tough, others can go south pretty fast.

Steve_Aquarius,

We sincerely apologize for the delay in your shipment. We have contacted Federal Express and they have informed us your order will be delivered tomorrow. We have placed a credit on your customer account for the shipping fee.

When you received your order tomorrow, please double the acclimation time and call our Live Aquaria department at 1-800-334-3699 with any concerns once the order has been received.

Chris,

In a situation like this where the fish are in a longer then expected transit time, I am under the assumption that a FASTER acclimation is in order. I would like to know about this because it would help me in the future if I would be in the same situation as Steve is now.

honda2sk,

Thank you for your inquiry. We do recommend longer acclimation anytime livestock is in transit longer than expected. This slower adjustment to the conditions in their new environment is needed, as this will reduce stress levels.

Sincerely,

Chris C.

Well, the Dr's had said yesterday when they called me that the package would be delivered quickly today, and I had high hopes that would be the case. Well, here it is 12:30 pm and still nothing.

I most likely will not see the package till 4pm or later, the usual time for my FedEx driver to arrive. If i had known this, I could have driven to the Duluth FedEx local and picked up my order and been home by 11am!!

Steve_Aquarius,

We apologize for the original delay with the package. We have contacted Fedex and the driver is currently on his scheduled route. You should receive your order within our normal delivery time of 8:00 pm. We are sorry that Fed Ex was not able to fulfill our special request for quicker delivery today.

In the future you may wish to select the additional priority service on your orders to ensure an earlier delivery time.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any additional concerns once your order is received.

Hmm, this not an option for me as of my local...good thought though :)

We are sorry that Fed Ex was not able to fulfill our special request for quicker delivery today.

If I had been told it was a "Request" I'd have made plans to drive to pick them up in Duluth,MN. The lady from the Divers Den stated that "At whatever cost" that FedEx would make it a PRIORITY to have my package here earlier then the norm.

ou should receive your order within our normal delivery time of 8:00 pm.

Where does "8pm" come from? I thought it was by 4:30pm? Please elaborate on this.

Steve_Aquarius,

We sincerely apologize. We have checked your address with Federal Express and you do qualify for Expedited Service, which is delivery by 4:30 p.m. to your zip code. We are placing a $10.00 credit on your customer file so that you may try this service on your next order. We will be happy to apply this credit when expedited service is requested. We hope you find this good will gesture satisfactory.

When I normal place an order from the Divers Den, I always have used the normal shipping of the "Next Day Air" for either 34.99 or 39.99. When I look at the tracking info for these shipments, it ALWAYS says delivery by 4:30pm.

So for the extra $10, what would I get? The same thing, so this point is mute! I really don't see why to give FedEx more money :) I just feel

So to me, say I should select "additional priority service" is of no value.

Steve_Aquarius,

You have a good point; in most areas they have standard and priority services. Your specific delivery area only offers priority, which is not common. We apologize, we did not check further into this, as your location is unique.

Please feel free to use your credit on file towards anything you would like to purchase.

Well, they have been acclimating for close to an hour now. I know two of the crabs are fine, one is showing no movement yet. The leathers are still in a ball, so time will tell on them.

The betta is pretty rough, but hopefully will come too. It is still to early to tell. I have to work at 4am, so I will keep this thread updated later sometime tomorrow.
