heres what happened.... while cleaning the inside front glass of my tank today, i accidentally "punched" a bit of xenia that was growing on the edge of a rock. some brown substance was released, which probably means that the xenia was hurt. a hour or two later, however, one or two of the tentacles on the xenia has turned black. after two more hours every pom pom xenia in my set up has at least one black tentacle, even those that were fairly distant and unattached to the injured individual. my red sea xenias however, which grow right next to the pompoms, do not show this affliction. the pompoms are still pulsing normally. what happened? are they in danger? the only change was the addition of a Ca reactor within the last week, which raised my alk. from 5dKH to 11dKH over 6 days. could this also have been a problem? any help would be greatly appreciated.
