Ok so it seems my True perc decided to jump to my overflow. No way to get her with a net been trying for awhile. If I pull the drain tube will she go for a ride to the sump and survive? How long can she survive in the overflow? I last seen her this morning at 4:30am.
i had one come up missing for over a month, and it ended up being in the overflow. I was tinkering with something in the sump and looked up at the bottom of the tank and saw it swimming around in the back chamber.... took him a day or two to get use to the flow in the tank again...
Before doing that I would see if you can pick up a really small net 2"x2" or smaller with a long handle or affix it to a diy long handle and try that way?
Please listen to KAT, I had this same situation and I just pulled the tube and let him go for a 14 ft ride to my sump, BUT it was a straight shot no 90's or 45's or anything and he survived just fine.:fun4:
Not sure if you have tried this. It worked for me just yesterday. I used my Magfloat to scare him to the top of the overflow where I was able to net him but only after hanging the net in the overflow for about an hour. He was more scared of the magfloat then the net. Took about 30 min and a lot of patients but alas he was free. If you need to you could also glue a piece of plastic to the float to make it larger for a little more coursing.
Good luck and let us know how u make out.
Finally some success. I used the magfloat as suggested and low and behold she actually jumped back into the tank :eek1:. I'm just glad she decided to hit the tank water and not the floor. Never really even put the net in the water. But at least she didn't go for a ride down the drain. All's well that ends well. Now to get some gutter gaurd material from Lowes and cover those overflows up.
Thanks for that magfloat tip. Guess she is really afraid of it...
