True percs, TR vs WC

Over the years I have purchased a few TR clown specimens...they always seem to not have proper color or other defects compared to WC specimens. I want to get a pair of true percs with some nice black in them, but the TR specmens I have seen do not have much black in them. Are WC percs a pretty hardy fish once established? I know the TR maybe hardier, however, they don't seem to look like WC, they seem to me to look more like Ocellaris. Anyone have any thoughts on this, TR vs WC???

It sounds like 2 things could be happening here. Your being given the old LFS LIE. They were probably TR ocellaris. Also young true percs dont have as much black as older ones. It developes as they age.

Are you just looking for thicker black bands or onyx clowns (where the bands connect) ? Onyx are not as easy to find, usually quite a bit more expensive too. If your just looking for more black and not onyx your best bet would be to get a pair from either Soloman Islands or PNG ( I cant spell it so I'll abreavate)

WC true pers are going to be alot less hardy than TR ones, they usually come in with internal parasites and or Brooklenella. They will have to be QT'd for a month and usually treated onces symptoms start to show up.

If your looking for TR onyx go to rods-reef.com he sells them and they are awsome!

I agree that TR percs are alot easier to acclimate, but I think WC once properly acclimated do extremely well. The advantage with WC is you do get some really cool morphs.

If you are looking for some WC Onyx clowns, I believe Fridmani had some.
