Okay this guy is huge and I am likely going to buy it. It covers completely a 15 x 10 inch rock.

Just want to be sure that its the real deal, let me know what you think

Also if you would be interested in a frag in the future pm me as I will have some.

For it to be the true lineaged SM Monti, it would have to have come from the originator (strictly speaking). That is a very nice piece, though. If the price isn't outrageous, it would certainly be worth adding to just about any colection, regardless of LE status. Have you seen it in person? If not, I'd question the glowing red eggcrate...

No I have not seen this in person, and it is pretty expensive. I assume the glowing eggcrate indicates photoshop enhancement? I guess I have some thinking to do!

That is a Danae species, with the Superman Coloration if thats what your asking...

If it is a "TRUE" superman, meaning it comes from .. whoever found this morph.. I duno...

get it anyway... or you'll be sorry!

I second this thought.

Do people really make a huge deal out of its direct lineage and who it came from??? I guess it wont matter to me much. Here is my concern, I am going to want to frag some of it to recoupe some of what I paid for it....do you think I will have trouble doing so.

Oh yes the price tag scares the sh** out of me as well....

A cool grand, worth it or not????

It's a nice piece but it doesn't shoot out to me as that amazing. It looks like it is enhanced for sure. Ask for a flash unaltered shot. I doubt it is real because if it was, a grand would be seriously low and the seller could knwo that. Many of these have been imported and have flooded the market. However, IME, they tend to change color and not appear the same.

Is it worth it for you to pay a grand? That's all you should care about. You could make 150 1 inch frags out of it. Sell each for 20 bucks and make 3 grand.

WHOA....if that is an online vendor...paritcularly an individual and not a very very very repuratable company i wouldnt even consider paying a grand for that....

you can just get a much smaller frag and let it get that big in no time...so many other things you can add to your tank for a grand..

I DONT THINK THAT IS THE ORIGINAL....so many imposters out there....but then again you have define original...

i can see this thread turning into a bloodbath

WOULD PUTTING A REFLECTOR OR MIRROR UNDER THE TANK MAKE THE CRATE GLOW?

i dont think you can make 150 frags out of that though

dont get hustled...people know that reefers in general have alot of money...or relatively in comparison to alot of other people...i would be very very wary about getting hustled...

this is kind of unfair because it may be legit....but just dont get hustled..

you have to weigh the pos. and negs.

is possibly getting hustled out of a grand worth having a large superman?

looks like a case of the want of instant gratification and the possibility of somone who knows that taking advantage

15x10 inch rock equals 150 square inches = 150 frags. It more of a theoretical as it would be difficult to get exactly 1 inch frags. However, patience and a dremel would get the job done. My point was he could frag half of it in one inch pieces and make it back.

A nice coral. The "original" Superman came from John Susbilla (Tubs) at Exoticreefs.us. I can guarantee you that did not come from the original. That being said, still a sweet coral and you should be able to recoup some of your investment by fragging it up.

2 suggestions for you.

1) That is most certainly a wild colony. If it were grown from a frag of the original Tubs colony, it would be up on eBay going for several grand. Be sure you inspect for nudi's, and due the precautionary dips etc.

2) Ask the seller how long they have had it and what their guarantee is.

That's going to come in one giant box for sure. Shipping will be expensive.

Good luck!~!

Yeah and the rock isnt a flat rock here either...it would be calculated more like taking the surface area of a box and subtracting what is not covered on the bottom. But that doesnt matter much. Im requesting additional pics, also I would be picking this item up so I will see for myself what im getting.

Not all superman montis have as intense of color as the original from Tubs.

From what I have read a large majority of Wild Colonys of the "Superman" fade within a year or even die. From what I have seen in person Wild Supermans usually don't keep the vibrant color that the Original has.

But when you do sell it represent it as a wild colony if it is.

nice pice.. I would break it into 4 right off the bat though and spread it around.. probably way over what its worth in price though,,, If its wild Id be very very cautious as well.
