Trumpet Coral colors?

Hi All,

I was wondering how many colors of trumpet are out there?

I have four:
Standard green
Light blue/aqua green
Trumpet (red rimmed)
Lavender -Is this rare? I haven't found it anywhere on the www

I have also seen the Neon and heard of a blue (though I've never seen it)

Do you have pic of the red rimmed one? I haven't seen that one yet. Oh I haven't seen the blue one either. I'm sure it's not blue blue. It's probably very light blue.

Hi,

I mistyped earlier. I was referring to the "Candy Cane" version of trumpet coral. Not a true "red", but more on the maroon shade.

So the "blue" is a mythical version?

Anyone know more about my lavender/purple variety? I still can't find anything online.

I believe there are several people in the club have the lavender type. I heard Norman (Mr. Ugly) has a pretty good collection of candycane ..

The Lavender ones in the DBTC grew from a frag I originally got from Darcy.

I think she got hers from another BAR/BARE member way back when.

The only other lavender ones I saw were at a Seabay frag swap. One guy brought a bunch that he had grown out. I asked him if he was the guy that Darcy got hers from. He couldn't say for certain.

I gave some to Atlantis about a month ago. Don't know if it's still there.

So, the lavenders would be good to bring to the frag swap in August? Sounds like they are relatively rare.

Doesn't have to be rare to be brought to the swap

In general, we tend to get feedback that people would like to see more lps at the swaps.

Where did you get your lavender candycane from?

I saw a pic a few years ago of a red and white striped green center candycane. Haven't seen one exactly that color in person though.

The purple teal was the one that I had before, and ended up fragging away for people and swaps.

So it was cool to get the one from you. Don't think I have a pic of that one yet.

Hi Norman,

I got mine on a deal from Craigslist. The guy was selling live rock and a tank. Just happened to have the lavender trumpets in there and a flame angel. Bonus freebee. And it's growing very nicely.

The color is just like yours.

wow, those from Darcy's orignal colony have great colors for a trumpet coral.. I think we are going to have to be bugging you down the road for a head or two of those Norman . The others are pretty nice also.. definitely beats the common green ones

Poor Sam.. glad to hear that he made it home safe though (Glad he made it to both of your houses too, without getting lost).. he didn't hit our house until a full 2 hours after his original planned time. Part of that was our fault though, since we asked him to pick up the tubs sprinkle frag from Karl on his way down (and Karl's tank is hard to walk away from without chekcing his corals from all angles ).
