Trumpet coral

I was trying to scrape off hair algae on a trumpt coral frag I bought.

When I put it back in the DT, I notice some of the glowing parts
got scraped off. Does this eventually grow back?

Does it take months or years for trumpets to grow larger in size?

I can't help you with the glowing parts as I don't know what that could be other than part of the coral's skeleton. You may need to do an iodine dip if you notice the scrapped area looking infected so to speak. Can you get a picture posted of the scrapped area so we can get a better idea on what we are speaking about?

As far as growth... I bought one about 6 weeks ago that had 4 heads and two of those heads are now splitting. So I think they are an average growing coral, not necessarily a slow growing coral.

my trumpet coral has taken lots of abuse from my red coris wrasse and occasional kenya tree sting and has rebounded nicely. good luck

here is a photo. mine seems to have lot of barnacles attached to the heads.

the green glowing parts, I don't know what it's called, lol, is it also zooxanthellae, any
glowing algae? I scraped off the glowy parts, not on purpose, looks better today I think.

so the heads eventualy grow larger and split?
