The top part of my trumpet seems to be streching out at the outer edges of the round part also the same ends that are streching seem to be turning slightly pink color at the tip of the streched part. I have had the trumpet for about 2 weeks now and it seems to do fine. It eats and opens up just today is when I noticed the problem. I have him placed in the bottom of my tank in the sand and he is about 20 inches form the 175W 10,000K MH light. I keep my MH lighting on now only for 6-8 hrs a day since I had somewhat of an algae outbreak but I keep the actintics on for another 4 hrs . Could the lighting be too much for him? All of my water parameters are pretty good and have not changed since he has been in. I ordered a 14,000K better quality bulb recenty that I should get within the next week. If it is the lighting would the 14000K better bulb help?

it's splitting. The tissue expands periodically to prepare for the split. In a week or so, depending on how happy the coral is, you will see that it is now two heads in that spot.

Thank you I was hopeing that it was not dying. All of the other corals in my tank look soo happy I could not figure out what was happening with my trumpet but that makes total sense. I also see 2 mouths in one pod so that makes perfect sense that it would split .
