Try this again-My 600 gallon tank build

Yea, that is 36 inches worth of teeth. They are just 1/4 inch wide on 1/2 inch centers 1 1/2 inches down. I used a plastic square, a small c clamp and a router to cut them.

I know you can make jigs for the table saw / router table, but that is a big piece to crosscut standing up.
WO4? You must have a nice big work table or a very flat garage floor.
 
I got to looking at my left over acrylic and I am going to have enough to make tops for the tank too. I want this tank and my sump sealed up as much as possible to try and keep evaporation down to a minimum.
 
Sweet job and nice progress. Let me know when you want some help. I will bring over some acrylic and maybe we can get my tiny sump put together too. ;) I want to learn some of your secrets. lol. Seriously let me know when you might need me to flip or rotate the beast. I really do want to see this one coming together in person. :)
 
Where were you yesterday Chris? Just kidding. I got it flipped over last night (by myself I must add) and I trimed the edge off the top. By the time I got that done and cleaned up the ton of acrylic shavings, I was pretty much done for the evening. I will try and get the holes in the top drawn out and maybe start cutting on them tonight or tomorrow.
 
I got a late start tonight but I got the holes all drawn on the top. I couldnt get them cut because the kids were still up. I should be able to get started on them tomorrow. Here are my cut lines.

Do you rough them out with a saw or router? I use my cordless trim saw. It goes real quick with such a thin blade.
Do you let that thick stuff drop to the bottom or put something in there to catch it? I'd worry about it cracking once you cut away enough material to let it fall.
 
I will probabaly use tape to hold the piece so it doesnt fall. I hadnt thought of that. I am sure I would have figured it out while I was cutting it.

I got to thinking the other day about how to glue the overflow box on. It doesnt seem like a big deal, just stand it up on its side and glue it. Well, the ceiling in the garage is in the way so I am going to have to cut a piece out of the ceiling so I can glue the box on. Just kidding, it looks like I am going to have to take the tank outside of the garage, stand it up on end, and then glue it. Anyone have any other ideas?
 
Jackhammer the floor out from underneath it:)

I have glued vertical patches on tanks while in place. Its a real mess, but can be done (as far as holding water) It would be worth the effort of moving it outside, IMO.
 
I got the first hole cut out. It took a while but I think the other three will go a little quicker. I dont take any more pictures yet. Probabaly wait until I have all the holes cut out.
