Trying to find mantis.

I acquired a ~2ââ"šÂ¬Ã‚ mantis a month ago and havenââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t seen him since I put him in my nano. He is currently in my 7-gal minibow, with a ~1.5g refuge and sump built it. He shares the space with 2 small damsels, some xenia, mushrooms, ricordia, 3 hermits, and 3 snails, and some LR. I have 2 13w 50/50 over the tank, and 1 13w 10k over the refuge.

So I need to embark on a mantis finding mission. I am just dying to feed/see this guy. So what I was thinking was, take rock out of tank piece by piece, and place in a bucket of water from the main tank, after lowering the salinity a little bit. Wait till he comes out of whatever rock he is hiding in, and then put him back into the tank, with little rock work or other stuff.

I was also planning on putting a small piece of Ã"šÃ‚½Ã¢â"šÂ¬Ã‚dia pvc in the nano, to try and get him to accept that as his home, then I could introduce some more rock again.

Is there a possibility that this guy is nocturnal??
Would he get in to the built in refuge by climbing the sealant and going over the overflow??
Should I just wait it out and see what happens??
Should I take out his damsel fish neighbors, could they be scaring the little guy??
Any help would be appreciated??

..try getting a kabob skewer stick w/ apiece of squid or krill or something on the end and run it around the tank and rocks to see if he lunges at it or shows himself.
