T's 210 Gallon Build

For years I have contemplated diving into the saltwater aquarium world but did not take the plunge until November 2010. In November I came across a used Oceanic 210 gallon setup for $150. I could not longer resist so the adventure started.

Here is the RODI system from Air, Water & Ice that I installed for the project. It is the Extreme Typhoon III 150 GPD unit with TDS alarm and dual TDS meter.

I decided not to utilize the pumps, sump, protein skimmer, etc. that came with the setup but go with new. I compiled a list and took advantage of "black Friday" sales on a few items. This is what I purchased....

1. Acrylic Sump - 36"x20"x16" (LxWxH)
2. Royal Exclusiv Vertex VX-250 Alpha Cone Protein Skimmer
3. Reeflo Super Dart Gold
4. Two Vortech MP40W ES

The tank and stand were certainly a steal but the "white wash" color was less than appealing. The first major task was refinishing the stand, cleaning the tank and painting to back glass. The attached pictures highlight the process and show the finished products sitting in the house.

wow! that looks way better. good work. and what a perfect fit between the 2 windows, lucky guy. My tank is gonna overhang my two windows by 6" each.

A buddy from work plumbed the tank for me. He did a great job. Everything is tucked up at the top of the stand so you see very little piping when the doors of the stand are open.

Parts arrived from RapidLED last week and light construction/configuration is underway. The tank will have a total of 96 leds. My buddy from work that did the plumbing is also doing the lights. The plan is to install the canopy/lights this Sunday.
