TS24 too much flow for 240g with sand?

I have a 240g acrylic (Tenecor if that matters) reef tank I am currently setting up and would like to add the TS24 kit. The tank will have a mix of SPS and LPS. I like the fact that I can adjust the speed of the 6100 to be nearly as low as the 6000 with the controller, with the ability to go beyond what the 6000 is capable of if necessary.

My question is will this be too much flow to keep from disturbing the sand in the bottom of the tank if the units are placed within 4" of the top? The sand (sugar-sized) is 6" deep and the tank height is 30", which means the units would be approximately 20" from the substrate if placed 4" from the top. I have read that these push the water in a 24" pattern for about 4'.

I would like to place one at each end on the sides of the overflow boxes angled to the center towards the opposite corner, so they would be pushing water across the top of the LR before continuing across the tank. I would like to have good flow without creating the milkshake effect in addition to having the pulsing patterns these are capable of via the controller. I would hate to buy a kit that is either too small or large and not be able to use it.

Thanks,
Bryan

I use two 6100's on my 200 gal oceanic. They made some sand dunes for a while, but the tank found an equilibrium with the sand looking much more natural than before. I have a 4 to 6 inch sandbed of ESV which is very fine. One 6100 is dialed to max, and the other I have to keep to about 70 percent max to keep the sand in place (although I am gradually increasing that as the exposed sand gets more of a biofilm. Great product!

I have the TS24 kit on my 244. I also have a very fine sand in the bottom of the tank. You will just have to make sure that it doesn't hit the sandbed or bounce off a rock that will make it hit the sandbed. You should be fine.

I actually am considering adding one or two more heads to my tank. I love the flow that much!

Thanks Mimbler1 and Reef_freak_hou. That was just what I was hoping to hear. I went ahead and ordered the TS24.

I think you won't regret your decision. They aren't cheap, but I think they are well worth it. Installing the two 6100's on the controller let me take eight MJ 1200 powerheads out of the tank.
