OK, I have lost a second fish now to ammonia during TTM (and in a 10 gallon tank), and that slays me. Just wanting to check protocol.
So, using no less than 4.5 gallons (in a 5 gallon bucket) of new aerated water, you need to (1) feed almost nothing, (2) dose with Prime or similar ammonia neutralizer each day and (3) check ammonia with a badge or test kit on day 2? Any reason to consider partial water change in between complete tank transfers?
Also, because the consensus seems to be that you cannot let an ammonia badge dry out (which is critical for all hardware used in TTM), does that mean you essentially need to use up 4 badges in a typical TTM rotation?
I am sure I will get a second sense for these things with time, but I hate when the fish pay for my error. Advice welcomed.
