Tubastrea Night Owl

I'm new to RC and I wanted to first thank everyone here (especially the NPS folks) for all of the extremely helpful advice. I've maintained heavily planted freshwater tanks for about 10 years, but just recently got into reef tanks and I love it equally.

Now to my question. I managed to snag some really great sun coral/black sun coral frags from my LFS about a week ago. Did the tupperware method to encourage them to open and they both did so slightly. Then, after the lights went out I noticed both corals were completely open, so naturally, I fed them. They look to be in great health and have been accepting food. Only problem is, they ONLY open once the tank lights are out. I know many of you say that some of your Tubastrea species only open at night, but my question to you all is has anyone been able to "coax" a night owl Tubastrea into opening during the day? I'm not deterred by this, just wanted to see if I could do anything to encourage the corals to open when I can enjoy them most. I have tried placing the Tubastrea under dark overhangs in my tank, to no avail. Would appreciate any info.

If its new, I would keep feeding it when its open to make sure its acclimating and healthy. Then, after a while, you can start more and more feeding it when you want it to open.

Welcome RC Nicewicz

a constant feeding can allow that the tubastrea should be opened in the day
