Tubbs Blues

I always hear of this tubbs guy. Does he sell online? or where is he? does he ever post on RC?

Forgot to mention my true tubs blues experience. I bought a frag for $100 for 10 polyps from a friend who purchased theirs from the man himself. After 4 days in the tank, my hermits had taken out every last polyp. Now I am tubsless, but do have a nice true blue frag from an awsome trade.

I have pedigree Tubbs Blues

I have pedigree Tubbs Blues

I bought some a few weeks ago from a place in South GA. I can send you pics if you want. He has more, they were 39.00 a polyp but now all his pcs have grown.

If you can tell me the locations of any good stores in south ga, I am all ears. I have found two stores. One is in savannah, the other on st simons island. Of course I haven't been to valdosta in a while. I do know of a couple of people in valdosta and albany who have pretty impressive collections though.

As for my tubs blues, my friend has a replacement frag waiting for me that had 10 polyps about a year ago waiting for me. The best part is, for free! Well, almost free anyway. We have traded several times, but this time I have some extra special frags for them.

Exotic Fish on Northside Drive in Valdosta is about the best Coral store we have in and around Valdosta. Theres a store in Albany and in Thomasville. I have been to niether of these but I have been told that the people who run them know their stuff and they have impressive displays. If its fish your after then Panhandle pets in Valdosta on N. Oak St, is a cheap & safe bet but you have to be there on Thursdays to get something decent from the newest shipment. Livestock tends not to last very long in their tanks. Coral is overpriced there and is usually starving for life. Feel free to contact me, always looking for local reefkeepers.

These are what I bought as Tub's blues and I think they are as close I have seen on other on line sites. I do think there are nicer blue zoa's but people prefer a nice name with them
Here are a few of my blue zoa pictures

Lost this colony a few months ago, not sure still what happened, but I have a frag at a friend's house , waiting for a frag from it back.

Here is my favorite Blue's. A small frag I started with a while back and then a recent pic.

I think the blues are the least hardy.....mine are fickle and go through stages of not opening very well for weeks at a time.

when something is going wrong with the tank they are the first to show signs and the last to recover. Sometimes slowly shrinking away.

Some info on what works well with these zoas from other reefers would be great.

Leaving them alone and not moving them is the best advise I can give. But then again you may want to frag and divide them as much as possible for insurance purposes. Tough call.

i don't think tubb's blues are really any better than other blue zoos. they got famous back when they were the *only* blue zoos, not because they were the best of the bunch.

lighting makes all the difference in the world on blue zoos, so you can't really compare different people's pics.

For arguements sake lighting make all the difference in the world for life of these and all zoas. That being said is it not true that these polyps need less light than say an average polyp. I am not quite sure. anyone know?

I have kept mine under 250 DE bulbs and 400 SE bulbs with good success. But I do use 14K bulbs most of the time.
Maybe if I tried the 10K's for a while I could get them to grow faster

if you like plain blues then tubs blues or similar will do you fine

I finally got them my own small modest colony of tubs blues. I am very excited and they all came out first day in the tank. I have them in the gravel right now I'd say about 4-5 polyps. As long as the conchs stay away from them they should be just fine;)

IMO Tubs are better than most blues.Ive got two different blues zoas. One colony is blue with a red skirt and the other ones are Tubs.I can place my Tubs up high under the 250 watt hallide and they stay blue. When I place the other blues next to them they turn grey.
