Tubs Blue Growth Shots ....

OK, I found some old photos. Keep in mind that I have ABUSED these zoas, and I mean abused. This is when I first got the frag.

I popped off the original frag later and was left with this rock. There are more than the picture shows, it wraps around the back. This is a horrible picture. They are spectacular. They would probably spread quicker if aptasia and palys weren't crowding it!

Then I donated 1/2 of the mother colony to PROP - a group in AZ raising corals, and the other half to Sidewinder770/Reefmaiden for being such wonderful people. :) This is one half of it (borrows shot from Scott)

They are fantastic zoas, the nicest I've ever seen. Enjoy!

very nice. the original tubs holds its blue color better than any other imposter i've ever seen. but its so hard to tell the difference b/w a random blue zoa and the tubs morph.

and sad to see everyone selling any blue zoa morph for more b/c they tagged tub's name on it.

i love the last pic, amazing what these little guys can survive through. :)

definitely one of my favorites.. :) can you possibly let us know what the few months later is? like 3 months? 6 month? LoLz...

I'm just interested how long it took them to settle and start exploding..

Hi, I'll have to check the date stamps. But I'd say its all about a years growth. It takes a while to get them started, but once they get going - watch out. And surfnvb7 is right, they hold their colors well, and stay nice & big.

The first & fourth shot are under Phoenix 14K bulbs. The second was under Giesemann 14.5K (pure white) and the third was under just standard T5 lighting.

ABUSED can not be stressed enough here. Sometimes for months at a time. Covered, with no light, in bad tanks, transitioned from tank to tank to tank to tank.

surfnvb7 - is that "Surfin Virgina Beach"? If so, I went to Kempsville, then off to ODU.

No, they do not sting zoas. Trust me, lots of experience here - unfortunately. ;-) They do sting anything else in the tank though.

ime they sting zoas in that they keep them from fully opening, as can be seen by the zoas next to your blues above. they still open some, and won't die from the aiptasia, but there growth in that direction is hindered.

I agree with twon8 having seen aiptasia pop up in some of my zoa colonies. Some morphs appear to be more sensitive than others. For example my asterina star morph got really upset when two baby aiptasia showed up inside the colony but my plain old brown zoas did not appear to be at all affected.

I must have onl tolerant colonies - my zoas just grow right around em and it doesn't affect their opening. They are insanely ugly though and I'm trying to figure out a way to rid myself of them without killing my zoas!
