Tunicate behavior

I got these tunicates a few days ago and when I came home today they had a string coming out of one of their holes. Anyone know what this is?

might be their waste or discharge.

Not sure but thanks for the pic. Cool looking. I do have some ZOAS that do something like that when they get POed.

some worms live within tunicates, i dont beleiev it has been found weather parasitic mutualistic, or comensalistic, bu it is definatley possible that those could be worms

I wonder if it is some kind of waste. Its happened a couple times. Now, unfortunately, there are some orange areas developing on the trunk and stalks. It doesn't seem to come off when brushed. Inside maybe? I had some algae or orange/brown cyano on the sand near it and vacuumed out the sand. I have ordered some phosban hoping that might help.
