is this a good skimmer for a moderatly stocked 30gal. with a 10gal. sump. Also this will be in my bedroom so it must be quiet. Also know of any place with good prices to get this.

That is a model which is no longer available but if you find a used one it should definitely do the job. The current equivalent is the 9210, same basic unit, just black and with a new venturi. They are quiet. The only problem I can foresee is they are finicky about the water level and it must be kept constant and you definitely don't want to burn out the pump from running it dry as they cost about $180.

Thats a 235, it has a pump but those had an awkward rail mount system and were meant to hang inside the aquarium.

Yeah, the guy is wrong. It is a 235, the same basic skimmer but it is part of the Tunze SYSTEM which hung on rails mounted across the top of the tank.

It's the same, just a PITA to mount. It was designed to work as part of a complete filter set that went in tank.

oh well i might bid anyway, since it is so cheap, i can probably rig something in my sump for it to work. Does it look like it comes with the pump, also are replacement parts easy to get?

Yes, parts are easy to get, it seems to include the pump. If the motor doesn't work though due to an electrical fault, that is an expensive repair.
