Tunze 3155 not pumping water

I just got my tunze 3155 up and running.

It would turn on but not pump water...i had to shake and tap it pretty good for it to work. Seemed to be fine, until I woke up this morning and the level was WAY down (the unit showed it to be low, so i dont think it is a sensor issue)...turned it on and off and the pump turned on...but no water. I tried shaking it tapping it against the bottom of the container and nothing.

Thoughts?

Try tipping it upside down while submerged, trapped air may be the problem, if that does not solve it, the pump is bad and we will send a replacement.

It was actually the unit itself. I had Amazon send me another unit. So i started with just the pump from the new one and all the other old components...still wasn't working right. Swapped out the control unit and worked like a champ. Old one is going back to Amazon.

A bit frustrating considering the price...but stuff does happen.

I have to say, i am unbelievably impressed with the 9004 skimmer i just purchased. That little thing rocks and is so quiet.

Thank you, that is odd, one possibility would be if the speed knob was turned down, they generally are turned to the middle at the factory, it is a user adjustment in the controller, if it is down all the way to nano, it can be so slow the pump won't run.

Seems odd to have a setting that won't let a pump run at all?

But it ran for a bit and then stopped...strange but works now, so that is all that matters.

Basically, the potentiometer knob stop is past the end of the coil, so you turn the knob to where their is no contact or power to the pump, it just needs to be advanced one hair to make contact and work.
