If you are using the magnet holders, be sure that the magnets are properly assembled, the bottoms should line up of the inside and outside magnet, the float must also be in the larger C shaped clip. The float switch is a magnetic switch and if the position is wrong or a strong magnet is nearby it will activate the switch. If the float was ever disassembled, it is possible to place the float on upside down which reverses the function so the alarm occurs when the float is down and is off when the float is up. If the controller is near a source of electromagnetic fields or strong magnet, it can directly close the relay which sounds the alarm.
