Tunze 5017 failure

Hi. My trusty 5017 has ceased to function. It powers up normally. The sensor detects water level (green LED). When the water level drops below the sensor, all LEDs go dark (no yellow or red). No voltage is being sent to the pump (confirmed with meter). Please advise on troubleshooting or repair procedure. This unit has worked flawlessly for several years, and all appears sound and clean with the sensor and control unit.

Thanks,
Donovan

Unfortunately this sounds like a burned out transistor, this will generally be caused by an extended run time with a corroded pump connector or wiring or dead pump, the high resistance caused an overload which burned out part of the board. If this is the case, it cannot be repaired. However, if you send it in (assuming you are in the US) and I cannot repair it, I would offer a discount on a replacement.

Thanks Roger. I've never had any problems with the pump, which has only ever been in RODI water, but I suppose it could have failed and led to a circuit fault. The board certainly looks fine. Do you recommend sending the pump in for testing as well?

Forgive me if this is posted someplace and I missed it, but where should I send the unit?

Thanks,
Donovan

In this case it would be best to include the pump and power supply and just include a note with a brief description, return address and phone number-

interesting. i have same problem with no voltage being sent to the pump, but my leds still work as they should.. and i DID just hook it up to my new setup and it ran for about 3-4 minutes until it leveled off...could it be same problem?

What he describes is no yellow LED, all others work, but the yellow does not come on when the water level is low, if so, it could be the same issue.

Replacement Pump has failed

Replacement Pump has failed

Hi Roger. I'm responding to this old thread I opened in July 2014 so you can identify the unit. I purchased a replacement Osmolator from you at that time to address my original control unit problem. The pump that came with it recently failed (no apparent function at all). Fortunately I still have my old one, and it is working fine (despite being 8+ years old!), so the control unit seems to be sound. Please advise on how I can get a replacement pump.

Thanks for your help,
Donovan

Thanks for the quick response. Apparently I don't have enough posts here for PM privileges. If you can PM me or post a private email or phone number, I can contact you outside the forum.
