Tunze 6000 blowing air

I have this problem with my Tunze stream throwing out microbubbles every minute or so.. It does NOT come from the surface, it seems to appear from nothing..

Any clues?

I've tried to take it apart today, cleaning everything very well. I also cleaned up the propeller a bit, it had some scratches, maybe this helps, I'll let you guys know in case it works..

Hi Espen,

This is unusual maybe some sort of vacum being caused in the motor block drive chamber, I have seen one case of the propellor with some scoring on the surface but this was not causing any problems.
Please let us know how it goes, how old is the pump?

It didn't really help with the cleaning I'm afraid.. I'm not sure how old the pump is either, but I bought it used, so I guess guarantee is out of the question
It's so sad really, because the Tunze is just great, but the airbubbles is annoying so I can't have it this way..

I have those bubbles coming out from the pump as well. I think it is due to those algae on the rocks producing microbubbles under strong bright lights which are sucked in by the pump and after collecting enough and form large bubbles in the pump, the pump just splurt out those bigger bubbles. That's what I've noticed.
Try to switch off the wavemakers and observe any bubbles created in the LR...

I suspect that might be the case here too.. But I didn't have this problem in my previous tank.. Do you think it is because my new tank is only a month old, and that the bubble-production will fade away over time?

Ops, I forgot a small detail though - it's only one of my two pumps that do this.. Maybe I can try switching the propeller and see if the problem changes somehow..

I am having the same problem and it is causing microbubbles to attach to the LR. Once attached to the LR cynobacteria sets in and it is starting to look really ugly. I certainly don't want any corals dying as a result. Any other suggestions?

If the drive unit is dirty, especially if the hole in the magnet or the upper bearing is plugged, they will produce micro bubbles.

Today I tried ordering a completely new driveunit w/propeller from Tunze GmbH in Germany. I hope what will solve the problem. I'll update this thread when I get it.

There was definitely an improvement for me, however, from time to time there are still microbubbles that come out. It's hard to just stare at the pump for a long time.

Yes, I finally got the new impeller/propeller from Tunze today, and it solved everything! Thanks for everyones feedback, and I'm glad I finally have a microbubble-free tank
