Tunze 6055 Modification

I have noticed that quite a few people modified their Tunze 6055 pumps to increase flow rate by cutting a chunk in the casing.

Would increase flow have any impact on the pump in any way, such as overheating, etc.

The main issues I have seen is increased chance of prop damage and the prop housing loses some rigidity so it is more likely to deform and not plug in correctly. There is so little flow to be gained by this mod, I just wouldn't consider it worthwhile, we tested every conceivable flow mod, from removing the inside portion of the pipe, to cutting out every other slot to cutting off the snout entirely, the snout removal does not increase flow, it only widens the spread, the other two mods produce gains but they are less than 100 gph, even if you do both, and the structural rigidity is compromised.
