TUNZE 6055 Not Working

Hi - I recently soaked two of my 6055's in vinegar since they were sitting out for a few months...noticed some calcium build left from before. One started up and the other did not at all. The one that worked would not restart after it had shut off with the controller for feeding. I soaked again and then took them apart and noticed one only had a silver disk on the bottom that came off when I turn out the propeller. The other one had a black disk sitting on the bottom after I took out the propeller. Am I missing parts or did I break something? Need to put then black disk back in on top of the solver one? Or do I just need get new propellers? Hoping I do not have to purchase new motor blocks. Thank you.

A metal shaft should have remained in place in the motor and the impeller assembly and disks slide on top of this. Be sure the shaft did not pull out because it was seized inside the impeller by calcium. The oldest 6055's from 2007 would have had a stainless steel disk with a think black plastic disk on top of that, the later ones used a single thicker black plastic disk, in 2010 this was changed to 6055.740, a black plastic disk inside a blue silicon cushion to dampen noise. Assuming the shafts are still intact in the motor, I would replace the disks with the new model 6055.740 and given the age, it would probably be worth replacing the propeller assemblies 6055.700. When the pump in question was plugged in did it vibrate or hum?

Hi Roger - Yes...the metal shafts are still in place. When I plugged them in I did not notice any hum or vibration. Even put them on the floor to see if any vibration. Is that a good thing or bad since not? I did notice some tension on the impeller when I plugged them in and tried to spin them but they basically turn slightly and returned to same spot. This mean the magnets are out of proportion now? Oh..only one has the black plastic disk ...must have lost the other one when cleaning. Do you need in order to run? Thanks.

Did you try swapping the power supplies, it could just be a dead power supply, this is more common than a dead motor, the power supplies usually last 3-4 years and are about $45 to replace. You need to have a disk in the pump or it will make a lot of noised and stall, I would double check that it is missing, the oldest ones are just black plastic and match the bottom of the pump, they will only be visible as a raised area around the shaft.
