Tunze 6055 stopped working

I have two Tunze 6055's running on a 7096 controller and one of the 6055's stopped working. I cleaned it in Vinegar really well but no luck. I then noticed that the power supply light is not coming on. I tried the pump on the working power supply and it ran fine. I have tried different outlets, without the controller to no avail. I tested the power on the cord that goes from the outlet to the power supply and it it putting out close 115 volts. I want to send it in to get it repaired but not sure how this works.
Let me know how to proceed.

It sounds like just a dead power supply, these cannot be repaired but are not terribly expensive to replace. If it is less than 2 years old you would send the power supply in and it would be replaced under warranty if no water damage is present, if it is more than 2 years old, they cost about $48 on Tunze.com or Amazon, part 6055.240.

The invoice would be the best way as we go by purchase date when that is available. The pump will have a manufacture date stamped on the hexagonal body of the motor, it will be on a side wall and is embossed into the plastic as month and year. Some older ones may have week and year dates. In general if the power supply has a voltage switch on the bottom it is 2.5+ years old as we ceased use of this power supply in mid 2011, it was used since mid 2007 and was discontinued to meet EU requirements for energy efficiency (this power supply used 3W even when the pump was not running, new uses less than 0.5W). If it has the jumpers it will be newer as that is what we have used since.

Roger,
I'm following up after taking a hiatus due to moving. I'm in the process of setting up my tank again and now both of my 6055s don't seem to be working. I'm not getting any lights on the power supplies. They are probably out of warranty but I'd like to get them running. Can I send them in for repair and if it's just the power supplies you can charge me for replacements? I don't want to order two replacement power supplies and have them still not work.

Yes, that is fine, odds are they just need power supplies. Be sure to include a note with your return address and phone number.

Thanks for the info. A few questions. What's the turn around on this type of thing? Will they contact me before proceeding with repair? How is approval/payment handled?
I will find a suitable box and pack them up.

Tunze USA is myself and 2 employees, I handle all repairs personally. If the repair is inexpensive and simple, I will do the repair and call for cc info when it is complete, usually within one business day of receipt. If the repair is more costly (generally I set the bar at $50), I will call first and see what you want to do.

I just read that Tunze USA service repair is just you and two others. I wanted to say, job well done. Although with the quality of Tunze products you must not get hammered with too many issues with the volume of sales there still must be quite a lot. Although my two 6095's are fine and I love them, I have called upon you before for support. Nice to know that you manage the support team here in the USA so well. Keep up the good work.

Thank you, yes, the three of us handle all support, repairs, the entire US distribution and we make several of the product here as well as consolidate the US made components and ship them to the factory in Germany, I also work on product design from time to time, it is never slow here. We don't have too many repairs thankfully, I usually only do 2-3 a day. While it can be tiring to work things with the skeleton crew it gives me an overview of everything and lets us keep the margins low and costs down and we try to work efficiently.
