Tunze 6060 problems, little help here?

Hey all,
I won a tunze 6060 at the x mass party (yay me) but the problem is that it is now running only intermittantly. It was covered with algea so I scrubbed the whole thing down impeller assembly included. I noticed a small recess in the front part of the housing that looks like it leads to the innards of the pump but it looks like it was a factory thing by the looks of it. Maybe it had a rubber plug that came off? Not sure. I didn't notice this when I first put it in service. It keeps starting and stopping and I don't want to ruin the pump. Maybe I should order a new impeller. Too nice of a pump to give up on. Any thoughts?? Thanks,
