Tunze 6100 Question

I just bought 4-6100's and the 7095 Multicontroller and was wondering if this will be plenty of flow for my 500 gallon softie tank? Dimensions are 8'x4'x2'. Is a small wave possible with this setup or will I need to purchase a wavebox in order to do that? If so will one Wavebox do the trick or would I need an extension as well?

Also I was reading the Battery Backup thread and Im a little confused on how the wiring would be done. Is there a diagram or a link that would help explain this process a little better? I would really like to have a pump or two running in case of an emergency.

Hi 46bfinGA,

I would suggest a wavebox extension for a 4' wide aquarium. The battery back up is for the new generation 6101 pumps.
The 4 x 6100 and multicontroller 7095 will give an excellent flow solution and the wavebox would be an advantage.

Graeme

I just bought the 6101s & asked the same question & from what I know they both perform the same, 6101 is newer version that has a different transformer. I never saw a 6100 so I dont know exactly what is different but was told the 6101 is a cleaner set up.

Thanks Cioutlaw. Nice stang you got there,is that a Saleen?

So I know the 6101's can be changed from 12v.-24v. but is that only for the purpose of the battery backup? Is that the only difference between the two pumps? What is cleaner about the 6101's?

Yep.. 06 Saleen

From what I understand the 6101 has the ability to replace a low voltage chip that will turn the 6101 into an 6000 for less flow. I think the ability to use battery backup was another advantage. as far as the cleaner look...I never saw the old 6100 so I dont know if thats true.

Im pretty new with the Tunze pumps myself so hopefully someone with more experience will chime in & clear up what I said.

Me and the Wife have got an 06 GT with a few bolt on goodies. We love the new mustangs. Handle and ride so much better then the 96 Cobra we had.

The 6101 does not have the black transformer are the blue driver to deal with, just two smaller plugs, I beleive the power inverter and a tie in for the controller.

Well I just bought a wavebox and an extension to go along with my 6100's. Hopefully this wont be overkill on my tank. Im guessing the stream pumps and waveboxes will not work against each other?

They will work against each other to a point, you will just have to play with the wat you point them. I have found if a pump is pointing from back to front it will reduce the wave.

I was planning on putting the four 6100's in the corners and putting the waveboxes on the sides. Hopefully they will work.
