Tunze 6100 question

Thinking about buying one of these... comes with a Tunze single controller.
My hope is to use on a 110G tank that is 5' long.
No experience with Tunze and wondering if this unit would be enough to handle all my flow needs in this size tank?
Can it be set to pulse and create wave type motions?

Ideally you would have 2 so you could change flow directions and better keep detritus suspended. One would work, but it could be better. You can pulse the pump with the single controller.

If I go with this package that has the single controller and later decide to add another unit... I assume I would probably need to change out controllers at that time?

From what I understand, this Tunze will flow over 3000 gph..
if I understand correctly, I can tell the controller to pulse this single pump to go from low to high at different intervals.. which I assume would create a wave type motion...
sound correct?

I run 4 separate Hydor #4s now and just can't get the flow in all areas, plus no wave action at all.

Yes, ideally a second pump would be used with a 7096 or 7095.

It won't create a wave like a wavebox would, but it will create a wave like flow.

That is all I really want, a wave like flow.
But with a single 6100 in a 5' long tank... it may just be wasting my money...

It will cover the tank, that isn't the issue, the flow pattern is 2ft wide and 6-7 ft in length. But generally if you don't change direction with a second pump, you get dead spots and spots that debris can accumulate due to the constant flow pattern.

Just to throw something out there...
if this unit was on one end of the thank running up and down in pulsing flow action... and the other end had a Tunze 6060 (cannot be pulsed) but runs a constant flow of lesser gph but in opposing direction ...
what type of results could be expected?

I think a pair of tunze 6100 would be ideal for your system. I have two in my 90g and I have them turned down to half speed.

By the way. I have a single controller and a y-splitter hook up to it. It is able to make BOTH of my tunze pulse on and off from 100% to 40% (or so). Not exactly wave action like you could get on a multi but it is still pretty nice.
