Tunze 6105 and 6205 too loud!

Hello,

I purchased both a 6105 & 6205 over a month ago and am getting to the point where I cannot stand the noise. These were purchased because I was told they were more quiet than my Vortechs.....which they are not. Is anyone else having this problem? How can I fix this? It sounds like the neighbor is mowing their lawn constantly. I love the flow they produce but they vibrate like crazy. They are being run on a Marineland DD 300 gallon. Someone please help!

The newer ones have updated impellers which are larger and run at a 18v with an 18v jumper in the transformer. The pump holding clips are also now separated from the magnets with blue silicone spacers to reduce vibration....did your pumps come with either of these?

The very first 6105s I had, when they just came out, were noisy and had a substantial hum to them. The newest ones I got a couple months ago are silent unless you put your ear right ot the tank. They are much quieter than the Vortech pumps, night and day difference.

I believe Roger is back tomorrow...he'll let you know what to do.

They don't have the clips with rubber spacing. I know that the impellers are the titanium ones. They should both be new as they were purchased a little over a month ago. I wish they were silent as this is why they were purchased. Hopefully Roger can help out, otherwise these things are gone and tis is the last time I'll purchase Tunze pumps.

I understand your frustration, but trust me - your pumps will be quiet. They probably just need an update or adjustment. I use these pumps because they are soooo much quieter than the vortechs I used to own (plus the service from Roger is the best). I run as near a silent systems as possible, I am a noise nut.

The dampened 'silence clamp' makes a huge difference. There may also be some other minor issue causing vibration that is easily handled by swapping out a part.

Roger will fix it, you’ll feel better, and probably end up another gushing tunze/roger lover :love2: :lolspin:

Did the parts fix your problem? I have just turned on my 6205's for the first time and they are way too loud. I also have the 6105's but they are quieter.

I have not received them yet. I think they were shipped on Wed but not sure. Will post once I receive them and swap things out.
