Tunze 6105 needs repair

It looks like water has entered the contact between the power adapter and the place where the DC voltage exits to drive the pump. Corrosion and it looks like some damage to the electronics connected to the pots switch.

Roger... Any advice on this? Send it in or learn to solder? ;). About what are we looking at in costs?

Thanks!

Gary

Do you mean the female power receptacle that is in the junction box on the pump end? If the damage is on the power supply it should just be replaced outright with a new one, to replace the pump end is $35. This works probably 75% of the time, it is possible that the short destroyed the internal pump electronics so I cannot promise this will be an effective repair, worst case scenario you would need a new 6105.100 motor block which runs about $160.

I'm referring to the small square box on the end of the pump wire. The electronics that connect the low voltage supply from the power "brick" are toast. This includes the variable speed connection.

At any rate, it's on it's way to you. There is a letter on the inside along with the pump, power source and about everything short of the mount and magnet.

OK, I will let you know how it goes, within a day of getting it I should have it repaired or at least diagnosed and an estimate.

If $160 plus shipping is the high end, fix and I'll set up payment.

Thanks!

I emailed you yesterday, please check, it is repairable and for quite a bit less. I do suggest a new power supply though.

Rodger,

I have a 6105 that may also need repair. The connector end and power supply got a little wet. Should I just go ahead and send it in? Or, do I need an RMA?

I have worked with you recently about a noisy Drive Unit, which seemed a little better.

Thanks
Ryan

Just send it in, be sure to include a note about the problem and a return address and phone number.

Just an FYi, it won't save the power supply but we do have a safety cover for the connector, part 6105.600, it won't protect it if it is submerged but will prevent incidental spills from getting into it.
