Tunze 6105 not working

Hi,
I bought two 6105's a year back, and both were working well... suddenly one of the 6105 doesnt start when turned off and on again when turned off due to maintenance.

I did a vinegar dip cleaned it up, and tried.. didnt work. then soaked it in vinegar for a day or two and started it .. boom it worked. This was my first maintenance on the pumps.

Now again after a month after the 1st maintenance, the same problem when i turned it off and tried to turn it on again ... it just didnt... did vinegar again, and it worked... but when i installed it back into the tank... it worked, was fine. but immediately i turned it off to position it and then turned on after positioning it, gone ... dindt work.

tried all combos', switched the impellers with the other 6105, it worked perfectly... i doubt that there is a problem with the motor block.. is it possible?

normally how long is the warranty on the motor block?

They have a 2 year warranty. My best guess is the propeller/magnet is stuck to the metal shaft. Remove the metal shaft and then soak it in vinegar, this will allow the vinegar to better dissolve the deposits between the shaft and magnet.

thanks Roger. Now i have removed the entire system part by part like what you said, the metal shaft is seperate now... soaked in vinegar for 12 hours now... will give another 12 hours and let you know what happens.

Also a friend of mine had purchased from UK the same Tunze 6105, that comes with a 24V pin, whereas these that i got from Marinedepot come with a 12V and 18V pin, so can i swap the power supplies and use the UK one with the US one?

All the numbers on the Power supply are the same - identical they are.

Regards
Peri

A 6105 that came with a 24V jumper is either old or a mistake. In Feburary 2009 we changed from a 24V pump with 42mm prop to a 18V pump with 45mm prop, the flow is the same but there is less noise due to the slower speed. A mistake is also possible because the 6215 wavebox uses the same power supply with 24V. Also, if he ever got a spare power supply by warranty or as a purchase it would include a 12, 18 and 24Vjumper so it can be used on the wavebox or 6105.

I would not use 24V with the 45mm prop, it will be noisy and if the pump jams the power supply will overload and fail. At 18V with 45mm prop a 6105 uses 28W, at 24V it uses about 40W, the power supply can only deliver 50W before it fails so any obstruction will push it to the limit.
