Tunze 6205 noisy???

My Tunze 6205 is noticeable noisy. I can clearly hear it ramp up to 100 percent power from 30%. My tank is in my room and the noise is quite bothersome. Is this normal for the 6205's? I have another one on order, but I'm hesitant due to my experience with my current one. Also, it has the tendency to move upwards by itself. I'll be sleeping and get woken up by the flow because it is facing slightly towards the surface of the water. Not sure if I am doing something wrong, or what. I know personally that Tunze's are the best so I'm curious if I got a dud, or what. Roger, what should I do?

Let it run for a couple weeks, if you reduce the speed while it wears in the noise should be reduced while the parts seat and wear in. You might also double check that the disks are all the way down and flush with the top of the lower silicon bushing. The other thing to try is try the pump outside the holder, run it while holding it in your hand, if the noise is sharply reduced then you should check the magnet holder, make sure the bumpons are in place and the magnet itself is not contacting the glass. Try repositioning the magnet holder and if it is on glass that is less than 3/4" thick, I would add a sheet of rubber or felt to the inside magnet. The magnet is very strong, for up to 1" thick glass and on thinner glass the rubber bumpons compress and transmit a lot of vibration.
