tunze 6206 lock up

I have a new in box 6206.

At first I had it submerged 1.5" under water and pulse to almost fastest to create a ripple wave. I found the pump would stop after a few minutes at 24v setting and it would operate longer before stopping at 22v setting. I have to take it out and use a chopstick to persuade the propeller to spin again to work. At 24V when stalled it would the controller would turn the power supply on and off continously due to the overload.

Then I found out it works better if the top is above water and creating an axial wave with a longer pulse on the dial about 1 second. So far so good I have been running on 6 hours no lock up on 22V.

Is there something wrong with the unit? Maybe it really doesn't work well on the fast pulse..? Or the fact that I had it under water?

Also what kind of sound is expected, it is going whoosh click, whoosh click.. what is with the click sound, sometimes it is there and sometimes it quieter.

Yes, this is something that is not very clear in the manual, the unit can run completely submerged, but it works much better and produces a bigger wave if it is submerged only to the marked water line. The stopping and clicking issue sound like a broken drive unit, if you PM me your shipping info we will send a replacement.

on the nano 6206 there isn't any logo or makings on the wavebox.
How high should I mount the box? I just set it barely higher than the wave hits so the water doesn't get in the grates.

I may be wrong but I thought there was a silver squigly line on the narrow side indicating the water level. It is about 1/2" below the top.
