Tunze 7092 Jumper Setting

Hi, I've been running a Tunze 7096 controller for a number of years now but have recently acquired a 7092 controller.

Looking through the 7092 manual it mentions three modes controlled by the internal jumper. I understand the first two, which is Synchronous and Inverse.

However, can anyone explain what the 3rd mode external is for?

The manual talks about connecting the master cable to a Turbelle pump/Wavebox and the slave cable to a multicontroller. But what does this achieve and in what situation would you use this function?

External, its use is fairly limited and mainly for large tanks, their is a guy on Reef Central, I think he is in Thailand and he has a huge and stunning aquarium, he has the oder 6091 I believe but it has the same feature, so he basically set a 7095 to Interval and has 2 waveboxes on one side and 2 on the back with 2 6091's set to External, what this does is the 7095 alternates between the waveboxes so he gets a front to back wave and then a side to side wave. More commonly it is used to alternate between pumps and wavebox.

Thanks for that Roger, so the 7096 would switch on and off the 7092. I will do some testing tomorrow but would you know if the settings on the 7092 are used for control or are they overridden by what you set on the connected 7096.

What I'm trying to achieve is something else, I have a Tunze DC controllable return pump, it was on the 7096 so I could use the foodtimer switch to turn off my return pump which would stop water overflowing into my sump while feeding.
I have since enabled Storm mode on the 7096, and this doesn't work very well with the return pump attached!!

So now I have the return pump attached to the 7092. But my small issue is I have to press two foodtimer buttons, I was hoping I could somehow daisy chain them together so I would only need to press one.
Thinking about this, I would still have the storm mode messing with the 7092 in this configuration

On the 7096, this extern mode is not very commonly used since the 7096 has wavemode and for the most part the 7096 can do this without the 7092. The only reason you might want to do this on a 7096 is to have 2 Streams on Channel one and a stream and wvaebox on channel 2 and use Interval mode to switch between the streams and stream/wavebox combo. The only point of this connection is that in Interval mode you can switch between two banks of waveboxes or wavebox and flow pumps. It doesn't do anything in any other mode and the controller does not override the 7092, it just serves to switch the 7092 and connected waveboxes on and off at set intervals.

I am not sure if the food timer on the 7096 would actuate the 7092 in this way, I would have to try it and see.
