Tunze 9002 pump

I have one of the older model 9002 skimmers, and I ordered a replacement pump for it 2/10/2010. The first one lasted about four years, this one seems to be already dying. This one is starting to make a horrible screeching sound on occasion. Cleaning it helps, but it comes back in just a few days. I'm aware of how to clean my equipment properly so I don't think that it's anything that I'm doing wrong.

What is the expected life span of these things, and is there any kind of warranty through Tunze? I would have happily replaced the impeller the first time (which is what I believe the problem is stemming from), but apparently they aren't available. I would have expected to get a little more use out of this pump after paying almost $50.00 for the little thing.

I would press the metal shaft in, it sits in a socket and if it works loose you get a lot of noise. The impeller is available and if the shaft is not it, this would be all you need. It is part 0800.042. The pump has a 2 year warranty and it would need to be sent in for repair, I leave for Germany on Thursday and I am the only one who does the repairs. I won't be back until the 9th of August. I am reasonably certain it is a simple issue I outlined above.

Thanks Roger. I would have responded earlier but I was down with DSL problems for the last few days. The pump has stopped acting up for now, but I will try your suggestion if it begins to act up again.

Thanks.
