Tunze 9002 skimmer helpp!!!

Hello,

Im trying to figure out how to saw off the magnet to make it fit into the middle chamber of my JBJ 28g nano. Do i have to cut the magnet? Is there a way around this? If not, is cutting the magnet going to damage the skimmer?

Hi Kevin,

This is a delicate procedure do not cut through the magnet case or saltwater enters the magnet and destroys it.
I guess you are not concerned about the magnet and major mods like this will most likely void warranty anyway.

I am sure many others have done this mod and can offer direction.

The best way is to get a dremel and just cut the silicon? around the edges. Then I used a hammer and a piece of metal plate to knock it off. Have to be careful or you will put a hole in the skimmer. Can be patched up with silicon. If you cut into the magnet exposing the metal use the other magnet to silicon it on and the one that exposed use it for outside of the tank or plop some silicon on it to contain it.

Or the easiest way is to just order another magnet and leave the one on the side the way it is.
