Tunze 9002 skimmer pump is loud...

Bought one used and have had it running on my 20 gallon nano for a week. The first thing did was give it a good vinegar soak when i bought it home. Cleaned it all up and placed it in my tank. Water is about 1/2 inch below the water line. It has been skimming for a week now, but the pump is quite loud. Could it be worn out?

It has been a week, and the pump sounds rattly, rather then just a hum.

Any ideas whats wrong?

Edit: By the way I think I have the older unit, with the older pump.

On a 0800.040 pump remove the propeller and make sure no sand or gravel is inside or snails or tubeworms. Also check that the metal shaft is pressed into the socket it sits in and not loose.
