Tunze 9006 Skimmer support

I recently bought a used Tunze 9006. My tank has been going since April (still new) and I have one clown fish, 4-5 red hermits, and three snails along with five frags of different types.

I put the skimmer in my sump according to the instruction manual and I can have anywhere from 3-11 inches of water for it to work. My water level is about 1/2 inch below the line on the body of the skimmer (which puts it at about 10 1/2 inches).

I am only getting a small fizzing of the water. No foam, no build up, just the same kind of fizz in a freshly poured soda that tickles your nose. The skimmer has been running two weeks and I have adjusted the air regulator valve at the neck of the unit multiple times with nothing to show for it.

Please help, thanks in advance.

The water level can only be at the lowest range 3.9-11 inches when the accessory 9005.400 is used. Without that the water level needs to be 9.5-11.5", I would generally set it around 11". The tank sounds fairly new and lightly stocked so this could be part of the problem as well. Are you using it as is or did you add the 9005.400 set?

I had to look that up. Yes I believe that I do have that set on my system and the water level as stated before is currently at 10.5"

With the 9005.400 installed it is critical that water is exiting the black stand pipe, their should also be no gurgling noises and the blue sponge should be below the top of the stand pipe.

Have you removed the pump and verified that the air hose is not pinched between the pump and body and that the 3130.130 nozzle is not broken (they can break in shipping so the nozzle end is not firmly attached to the snail shaped pump base).

OK, took the thing apart and inspected everything. It all looks good. Nothing is junked up, nothing is pinched, nothing seems broken. The inside of the unit did smell bad though and had slimy greenish brown stuff all over.

OK, so something must have been disconnected somewhere because now it is making skimmate like crazy! Thanks for the push in the right direction.
