Tunze 9010 or EuroReef RS-100 for my tank?

Hey guys,
just want a slightly biased opinion:

Tunze 9010 or a EuroReef RS-100? Which one would perform better?

Anyone know how loud the sedrea 3500 would be?

Tunze 9010 specs:
Dimensions: 4.9"L x 4.4"W x 16.8"H
Reaction Chamber: 4"
Water throughput: 1,200 l/h (317 gal./h)
Air capacity: 650 l/h (171gal./h)
Power Consumption: 21W

EuroReef RS-100 Specs:
Reaction chamber diameter: 6"
Pump power consumption: 28 Watts @ 115/120 VAC 60hz
Air intake: 420 lph

That's all the specifications I know. The ER looks like it uses 7 more watts, has a bigger chamber diameter, but less air flow. I also know the Tunze is probably dead silent.

Say I have both skimmers, which would you choose?

Thanks

I will choose 9010 over Euro Reef because I love my 9010 both in terms of its performance and its ease of operation let alone the silence.

I hope you find my biased opinion helpful for your decision.:D

thank you!

i was going to go with the tunze, but the person I was going to buy from sold to someone else =( he just couldn't wait. grrr.

is the 9010 on your 58g?

I used to have 58 gallon tank with 9010.
Then, I have upgraded my tank to 65 gallon reef ready acrylic tank (36x18x24) just for a more clear look. I have not set up my 65 gallon tank yet since I am going to upgrade my lighting from Giesemann nova II (250watt metal halide) to Giesemann Infiniti (250 watt metal halide and 4x24watt T5)in January.

When using 9010 with 58 gallon I was very happy with its performance and silence since I slept at the same room where my tank was located.

I hate noise.

You will be happy with your choice.

it's funny, there are way more responses in the tunze forum about the 9010 than the ER forum saying anything about the ER100. I think the ER100 isn't that popular, since it's so close to the 135 in price. Reason why I don't want the 135 is because of the huge sedra it uses (and it'd be busting out of my sump).

People say ER works great, but that's about it. I think I may be sold on the 9010.

Do you guys think the 9010 would be a great performer on a 68 gallon SPS tank with a 25g sump/fuge?

THanks for the input =)

9010. Love it!

I'm guessing this is on your 80bb? What's your total system volume? Do you think it's a bit overkill, just right, or slightly underpowered?

Thanks!!

9010 without a doubt. I think some of the larger ER's with larger pumps are probably good, but the small ones always underwhelm me. :)

sweet, just put my order in at marinedepot for the Tunze 9010 =)

can't wait till it gets here (probably by tomorrow afternoon since MD is pretty close to me).

Thanks for all your feedback!!

I definately got a much stronger response for the 9010 than the ER RS100. In fact I couldn't find a single person with the RS100 that replied to me. I guess most people went for the 135 since it was so close in price but better performance. I now know that I'll have a super quiet operating skimmer that'll perform great with low wattage. Plus I now have so much more room in the skimmer chamber... maybe i'll toss in my other two tunze 9002's as well when my small tank is broken down =P

I got my 9010 a few days ago and it's skimming very well already. Super easy to set up and almost no configuration. Highly recommended.

About the same responce you would have got from ER if you had a problem with their fine products. You made the right choice.
