Tunze 9010 Problems

I have had a 9010 for about 2 months and up to this point it was working fine. I woke up this morning to find that it was not generating any foam. Also, water was pouring out from the seam at the top of the skimmer where the collection cup is set.

I pulled the skimmer out and gave it a thorough cleaning. It seems to be generating foam again but the top is still leaking.

I replaced a RS 100, which I still have, with the 9010 and am considering returning to the RS 100. I am a bit frustrated as I spent the better part of the morning working on this problem.

I was also running the water lower then the sguiggly line on the front of the skimmer as it states that it can be run, in sump, from 3-9 inches high.
Will the skimmer be more effecient running it at the higher level?

Any ideas or thoughts?

It is normal to have a slow trickle from the top, the top piece is removable for service and is not glued in place. It sounds like the airline was pinched or disconnected somehow and this resulted in more water flow. Does the airline fit snuggly into the venturi? I take it you are using the in sump set up with stand pipe?
