I have a recently purchesed (in the last month) 9011 skimmer running for a week so far on a 300 gallon aquarium. It is placed in the sump and I have double checked all fittings and correct assembly. All the water was new with live rock transfered from my previous tank. The foam will not climb into the collection cup neck. Is it still breaking in after a week or is there something I should be looking to double check? Thanks for any help that can be given.

I would imagine there just is not much to skim, 300 gallons of new water and cured older rock leaves very little to remove and what does develop would be very diluted. I would make sure water is exiting the stand pipe and you may try increasing the air flow, in general a 9011 is optimum at 3-4 full turns open from completely closed.
