Tunze 9012 noise problems

I have recently upgraded from the 9011 to the 9012 skimmer. The skimmer is is making a loud rattling noise but is producing bubbles fine. Upon opening up the pump, the bushing and attenuating disc appear to be seated correctly at the bottom of the well.

The problem appears to be the impeller itself. There appears to be small chip in the black (magnetic?) shaft. The blue needle on the drive unit sits loosely on the rest of the drive.

Any help would be great as initial impressions of the skimmer is good but the noise is unbearable.

Does anyone know if the needle wheel should spin freely from the rest of the impeller? I suspect this is what is making the noise. It's as if when it spins the needlewheel 'bounces' back and forth around the shaft and doesn't stay at a constant speed like the rest of the unit.

I suspect the impeller is defective, I had a technical notice that some early impellers had an assembly issue, if you are in the US I can send a replacement, if you are outside the US your distributor should be able to help.

Just a quick update. I did a temporary fix by glueing the impellor together and was running great although suspect was being limited by the glue somehow.

Fitted the replacement impellor and it now works fantastic. I don't have space for a cone skimmer and have tried quite few skimmers of this type and without a doubt this is the best in it's class.

Yes, I have been told by our techs that it will perform on par with a 9415, I was very impressed with the test model that I got.
