Tunze Alarm

The alarm on my 6100 stream did not go off after cleaning the propeller assembly. The propeller will not spin. I took out all parts and cleaned and soaked them in vinegar. After putting them back together it still would not turn when powered up.

Phil have you tried putting it on a different port on the multi controller? Is the alarm still going off? Have you switched the transformers around on the two pumps (the hockey puck thing) to see if the transformer is possibly bad?

It cannot be the transformer, or else you would not get an alarm, there would be no power to sound an alarm. I would double check the cleaning, we have a stickied thread at the top of this forum. Often people overlook details like the upper bearing and the cooling port in the center of the magnet and if not cleaned, and this often takes scrubbing, the alarm will still sound.

I cannot get the brakes completely out but I have soaked them in vinegar and cleaned the hole in the center with a paper clip. Here is the part that does not make sense is the impellers work fine in the other 6100 I have but will not spin in this one.

Figured out the problem, I had a slit in the cord going from the powerhead back to the silver box. Is there anyway to just replace the cord or will I need to buy a new motor? Also I broke the impeller trying to get it apart. I have the older impeller with the brakes can I replace it with the new one or do I need to use the old style?

You can use the new one, Unfortunately the motor has to be replaced but the good news is that is the cheapest part, the driver and transformer cost more than the motor. Be sure and keep the old motor though as you need the oring and screen cover to put on the new one.
