Hi Tunze Associates,
I own a Tunze 6000 with the single controller. Tonight I heard a high pitch beeping noise and thought it was my smoke detector. Lo and behold it was my tunze...i hit the feeding button and the noise stopped...
So i come on the forumn and see that 90% of the alarms are because they need cleaning to CA deposits and what not...
I pulled the pump out of tank and took the impellor out per this forumns instructions(the sticky at the top of the threads). I cleaned it with brushes and a vinegar/water solution. There was calcium buildup(greyish white putty) and I cleaned it all out so that everything was black and i could see through one end of the impellor to the other.
HEREIN LIES THE NEW PROBLEM
---Now the alarm is disabled and the pump works but not properly. The lights on the controller bounce back from one setting of pulse to the other extremely rapidly...like the pump is pulsing at a 1/2 second.
It pumped water but I put my hand in front and didnt feel like it was pumping at its best.
WHY IS IT DOING THIS WITH THE BOUNCING LIGHTS AND NOT PUMPING CORRECTLY AFTER I CLEANED IT?
The thing about the cleaning in the other thread you all sticky shows 6 peices in the second picture. But mine doesnt have all those pieces...probably explained by that is a different stream and i have the 6000...
so i see...a magnetic impellor with the blade at the end obviously....and the magnet is just one peice...it looks like there is a piece that screws into the other peice but they wont come apart on mine...they twist a little but wont twist off and i wouldnt force it for fear of breaking it....oh and of course i do have the little red o-ring that was wrapped around the slot on the back of the impellor
DOES THIS SOUND RIGHT?
DID I CLEAN IT WRONG?
IS IT ASSEMBLED IMPROPERLY?(ALARM IS STOPPED THOUGH)
Any help would be greatly appreciated! I have it turned off and out of water right now as i dont want to do any damage to it. I am going to go tinker with it a little and see if i can figure it out but I am not gonna go taking it completely apart until someone helps me out.
Thanks Tunze Associates
